Assignment 1 Explanation
My target audience
are both genders aged around 12 – 30 and are people would I would assume have
some interest in the super hero genre. They would also be interested in film or
any of the genres of film shown on the cover lines, e.g. comedy and si-fi. The image used in the
magazine is majorly of centred to the right. This is to create suspense, unnerve
and mystery. This is because the character of Batman is unnerving and
mysterious. The image itself is quite dark and so whilst the background is
still dark and grey, it’s much lighter than the image. This creates a shadowed contrast
between the image and the background. The colour pallet
used is a black and red one with features of white and grey. This links to the
target audience because of the fact that they connote the red with danger and
warning. The white might connote to pure and cleanliness. The colours of the
cover lines are red. This is to differentiate different parts of the cover, the
title and the main cover line. The main cover line features all the colours
used throughout the page. Rather than having red text on grey block, it was
grey text on a red block. This is to differ the cover lines with the main cover
lines.The font used for the
main cover line is the font used and associated with the batman films and so
people would be able to make that connection quite quickly and read on. The
font used for the title and various other bits is bold and blocky. This might link
to a more modern standpoint. The rest uses much more of a natural text in order
to contrast with the sometimes-harsh edges of the title and main cover lines.
